The Strawberry Moon, Summer Magic & the Healing Power of Full Moon Rituals: A Journey from June to Tulum

There’s something about a full moon in summer that feels different, isn’t there?

Maybe it’s the warm air. The way dusk lingers just a little longer. The feeling that life is asking us to step outside, soften our shoulders, and remember that we’re allowed to experience joy.

On June 29th, we welcome the Strawberry Full Moon—arriving just after the energy of the Summer Solstice, when the earth is fully alive, the days are long, and we’re invited to stand in the fullness of who we are.

And honestly? This moon feels like a deep breath.

Not the rushed inhale kind. The kind where you pause, look around at your beautiful messy life, and think: Okay… I’m ready for what’s next.

So grab your tea (or your journal, or your favorite cozy blanket), because I want to talk to you about this moon, the magic of working with lunar cycles, and why this season might be gently nudging you toward bigger healing than you expected.

And yes… why we’ll be thinking about all of this again under the moonlight in Tulum, Mexico this October ✨

🌕 June 29th Full Moon Meaning: The Strawberry Moon & Stepping Into Summer

The June Full Moon, often called the Strawberry Moon, gets its name from Indigenous seasonal traditions marking the ripening of wild strawberries—a reminder that this time of year is about abundance, sweetness, growth, and harvesting what has begun to bloom.

And coming just after the Summer Solstice, this particular moon feels especially potent.

The Solstice asks:

What do you want to fully step into?

And the Full Moon asks:

What needs to be released so you can?

That’s the beauty of a full moon ritual. Full moons illuminate. They show us what’s working, what’s ready to shift, and what we’ve quietly outgrown.

This is such a beautiful time to reflect on:

  • What’s blooming in your life?

  • What feels expansive?

  • What are you finally ready to claim?

  • What old story feels heavy to carry into the second half of the year?

Because summer energy? It’s bold.

It asks us to stop hiding.

To take up space.

To let ourselves feel alive again.

And if life has felt heavy lately, maybe this moon is your reminder that healing can also look like laughter, sunlight, movement, connection, and letting yourself receive joy.

A Strawberry Full Moon Meditation + Ritual for June 29th

If you’re craving something simple but meaningful, here’s a ritual to try under this moon.

Think of this less like “doing it perfectly” and more like sitting down with a wise friend who gently reminds you of your own magic.

Your Strawberry Moon Ritual: Release & Receive

You’ll need:

  • A candle

  • Journal

  • Something grounding (tea, crystals, blanket, essential oil—whatever feels good)

  • Optional: sit outside under the moon

Step 1: Ground Yourself

Sit comfortably.

Take a few deep breaths.

Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.

Ask yourself:

What season of life am I in right now?

No judgment. No fixing.

Just honesty.

Step 2: The Full Moon Reflection

Journal on these prompts:

What feels ready to bloom in my life?

What version of myself am I becoming this summer?

What fear, habit, or story am I ready to release?

Write freely.

Messy is welcome.

Step 3: Guided Meditation for the Strawberry Moon

Close your eyes and imagine yourself standing in warm summer light.

The sun is beginning to set, and the moon rises—big, glowing, impossibly beautiful.

Imagine the moonlight washing over you.

Softening the places you’ve been gripping.

Illuminating the places ready for growth.

Silently repeat:

I welcome growth. I release what no longer fits. I trust what is unfolding. I allow myself to bloom.

Take a few breaths here.

Let yourself receive.

Step 4: Release Ritual

On a small piece of paper, write down:

What am I leaving behind?

Fear? Burnout? Old grief? Self-doubt?

Safely burn it (or tear it up if fire isn’t your thing).

Then write:

What am I inviting in?

Joy. Confidence. Healing. Love. Rest.

Keep this somewhere visible.

🌕 From Summer Expansion to Autumn Transformation: The October Hunter Moon in Tulum

And here’s the thing I love most about working with the moon:

It gives us checkpoints.

Little cosmic invitations to pause and ask:

Who am I now?

Because the moon you meet in June… may not be the same moon you meet in October.

And honestly?

You may not be the same version of yourself either.

This October, during our Moon + Medicine Retreat in Tulum, we’ll gather beneath the Hunter Full Moon on October 25th.

And the energy?

Completely different.

Where June feels bright and blooming, October feels deep, transformational, and wildly powerful.

This moon arrives just before both Día de los Muertos and Samhain, ancient seasonal thresholds connected to ancestry, remembrance, endings, intuition, and rebirth.

The Hunter Moon meaning is rooted in preparation—gathering wisdom, releasing what can’t move forward, and honoring transition.

If June asks:

What’s blooming?

October asks:

What are you ready to transform?

And there is something profoundly healing about gathering in sacred space with community during these powerful moments in the Wheel of the Year.

Because major transitions—grief, becoming a mother, career shifts, heartbreak, healing, rediscovering yourself, stepping into your power—often need ritual.

They need witnesses.

They need intention.

And sometimes they need us to leave home long enough to truly hear ourselves again.

🌿 Why Full Moon Rituals & Seasonal Markers Matter for Healing

One of the reasons we love honoring full moons, solstices, equinoxes, and seasonal rituals at GetAway Yogis is because they remind us that change is natural.

Nature never rushes.

She transforms in seasons.

And so do we.

Working with the energy of the moon can help you:

  • Move through life transitions

  • Set intentions for healing

  • Release emotional heaviness

  • Deepen your spiritual practice

  • Feel more connected to yourself

  • Create meaningful rituals for personal growth

Sometimes the healing isn’t dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like finally sleeping well.

Laughing more.

Feeling like yourself again.

Trusting your intuition.

Choosing differently.

🌙 Could This Be Your Invitation?

If reading this stirred something in you… I want you to trust that.

Maybe it’s curiosity.

Maybe exhaustion.

Maybe a quiet knowing that you’re craving something deeper.

Our Moon + Medicine Retreat in Tulum, Mexico was created for exactly this kind of healing.

Think:

✨ Moon rituals ✨ Yoga + movement ✨ Restorative healing practices ✨ Sacred ceremony ✨ Connection with incredible women ✨ Space to exhale and reconnect with yourself

And the truth?

There’s something incredibly powerful about standing under a full moon in a beautiful place, surrounded by people who just get it.

The moon has a way of reminding us:

You’re allowed to change.

You’re allowed to heal.

You’re allowed to become someone new.

And maybe this season is the one where you finally let yourself.
