What to Pack for Peru: Your Sacred Valley Retreat Packing Guide (From Your Travel Bestie)

If you’re anything like us, packing for an international retreat brings a mix of pure excitement… and what the heck do I even bring?!

So let’s make this easy. Think of this as your go-to guide from a well-traveled best friend (or your big sister who’s already done the overpacking for you 💁‍♀️).

We are so excited to be heading to Peru’s Sacred Valley—a place rich in culture, history, breathtaking landscapes, and deep spiritual energy. Between our yoga practices, excursions, and time to simply be, you’ll want to feel prepared—but not weighed down.

Let’s get into it ✈️

🌄 First Things First: What to Expect in the Sacred Valley

Before we talk packing, here’s the vibe:

  • Cool mornings + evenings, warm sunny afternoons

  • Higher elevation (hello, thinner air + stronger sun)

  • A mix of movement, rest, cultural exploration, and sacred experiences

During our Sacred Soul Retreat, we’ll be flowing through yoga practices, exploring the Sacred Valley, connecting with local culture, and giving ourselves space to slow down and soak it all in.

So your packing list? It needs to support all of that.

🧳 Your Peru Packing Essentials (Retreat Edition)

1. Layers, Layers, Layers

This is non-negotiable. The temperature can shift a lot throughout the day.

Bring:

  • Lightweight long sleeves

  • Cozy sweaters or fleece

  • A warm jacket (especially for mornings/evenings)

  • Breathable tanks/tees for daytime

Big sister tip: If you think “I might not need this layer”… you probably will.

2. Comfortable + Functional Yoga Clothes

We’ll be practicing together throughout the week, so pack:

  • 2–3 pairs of leggings

  • A few supportive tops/sports bras

  • A light wrap or shawl for savasana or meditation

Bonus: something soft and cozy for journaling or lounging between sessions.

3. Good Walking Shoes (Trust Me on This One)

Between excursions and exploring, your feet will thank you.

Bring:

  • Comfortable sneakers or hiking shoes

  • Easy slip-ons or sandals for downtime

Real talk: This is not the trip for brand new, unbroken-in shoes.

4. Sun Protection (The Sun Hits Different Here)

Keyword: high altitude travel Peru tips

At higher elevation, the sun is stronger—even when it feels cool.

Don’t skip:

  • Sunscreen (SPF 30+)

  • Sunglasses

  • A hat or visor

5. Hydration + Altitude Support

Staying hydrated is key.

Pack:

  • A reusable water bottle

  • Electrolyte packets

  • Optional: altitude support supplements or herbal remedies

Gentle reminder: Take it slow your first day or two—we’re here to ease in, not rush.

6. A Small Daypack for Excursions

You’ll want something easy to carry during our adventures.

Think:

  • Water bottle

  • Snacks

  • Journal

  • Camera or phone

  • Extra layer

7. Something a Little Special (You’ll Be Glad You Did)

We always say—pack at least one outfit that feels a little magical.

Whether it’s for:

  • A group dinner

  • A ceremony

  • Or just a moment where you want to feel like your most radiant self

✨ This retreat isn’t just a trip—it’s an experience. Dress like it.

8. Journal + Personal Ritual Items

Keyword: spiritual retreat packing list

The Sacred Valley has a way of opening things up—creatively, emotionally, spiritually.

Bring:

  • A journal

  • A book you’ve been wanting to read

  • Any small ritual items (crystals, oracle cards, etc.)

9. Travel Essentials You Don’t Want to Forget

Quick checklist:

  • Passport (obviously, but still worth saying 😄)

  • Travel adapter

  • Medications + basic first aid

  • Snacks for travel days

  • Copies of important documents

10. Leave a Little Extra Space in Your Bag

This is your official permission slip.

Because once you experience:

  • Local markets

  • Handmade goods

  • Meaningful keepsakes

…you’re going to want to bring a piece of Peru home with you 💛

🌎 Final Thoughts: Pack Light, Stay Open

If you take anything from this guide, let it be this:

You don’t need to pack perfectly. You just need to pack intentionally.

This journey to Peru—and into the Sacred Valley—is about so much more than what’s in your suitcase. It’s about:

  • Connection

  • Exploration

  • Presence

  • And a little bit of magic you didn’t see coming

We truly cannot wait to explore South America together, to practice, to wander, to laugh, and to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with you.

And don’t worry… if you forget something, we’ve got you 😉
